Growing The Low GI Symbol In Supermarkets Nationally

The Glycemic Index Foundation (GIF) is a not-for-profit health promotion charity partnership between the University of Sydney and Diabetes NSW & ACT. Their mission is to help people lead healthier lives through adopting evidence-based low GI eating principles for better health. It is the world’s leading peak body on GI awareness, education and research. GIF administer the first and only global Low GI Symbol certification labelling program. Surplus funds of the Foundation are directed to further research and developing education programs.

Despite the challenges of COVID-19 in 2020 the Foundation have expanded into new markets globally certifying low GI foods as well as domestically including a new range of Low GI breads in both Coles and Woolworths available in their in-store bakeries across Australia.

Growing the Low GI Symbol in supermarkets nationally helps drive the awareness and education of the health benefits of low GI carbohydrate foods for diabetes management and the Foundation’s mission making healthy choices easy.
